Social Media and the Olympics (Infographic)

London Olympics 2012 LogoThe Olympics has always been a special time for me and my family, even though it has not always been easy to watch.

There is the time difference issue, and the fact the television does not cover every event you would like to see.

In 2012, it looks like we are finally at a point where everything will be accessible thanks to social media and video platforms.

Youtube is teaming up with NBC to [Read more...]

Is Bus Stop Advertising Dead?

You know those dirty little plexiglass bird cage looking things people sit in when waiting for the bus?

Dirty Bus StopI was driving by one the other day and thought if advertising on them was still effective in the age of all things digital. There were a lot of people standing there waiting on the bus, and with the exception of the few who were typing away on their smartphones, the rest had nothing to do but stare.

The advertising that was there was small and lacked any real creativity. I went [Read more...]

Why I’m Over @Foursquare Check-ins

Foursquare CheckinI have been using Foursquare for a long time now. Over the last couple of years I have checked-in to many places, worked hard at connecting with people, and shared photos of my daily adventures.

Today, I am over it. I simply see little to no value in the platform as it stands, and it really needs to evolve into something more.

I have almost the maximum amount of 1,000 people in my Foursquare network, and the bulk of them are local. I try to comment on a handful of check-ins per day to create some conversation, but it just doesn’t happen much. At least not enough for the effort that goes into it.

There was no bump when Gowalla went away either, and that was disappointing.

Too many people check in without [Read more...]

SquareTrade LogoDid you know that you can purchase an iPad warranty from a company like SquareTrade?

I normally don’t cover most electronics I purchase. It’s not really because I feel like it’s scam or anything, but more due to the fact that technology is changing so rapidly that I replace my devices before they wear out.

However, the iPad brings a new set of [Read more...]

Microsoft Internet Explorer 9: Creative or Desperate?

Microsoft recently launched a campaign for their updated Internet Explorer 9 tagged “The Browser You Loved to Hate“.

IE9 Twitter ChartIt got me thinking……Is this campaign creative, or a desperate cry for market share that will never return?

The fact is most folks have moved on to Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome, and Internet Explorer has become the butt of jokes over the last few years. It has been looked at as the browser only good for downloading other browsers.

With the release of IE9, Microsoft is out to become the [Read more...]

Only Thing Going Down on @BelvedereVodka is Their Ad…..and Probably Sales!

Belvedere Vodka Rap AdWe all know that sex sells, but it appears somebody forgot to tell Belvedere Vodka that forced sex is a no-go!

Belvedere Vodka posted up a new ad on their facebook page today showing what appears to be a very frightened woman being grabbed by a possible rapist. The tag line added to the startling image stating “Unlike Some People, Belvedere Always Goes Down Smoothly“.
